Genes in Space 2021 Finalist Launchpad

THE GENES IN SPACE FINALS ARE GOING ONLINE!

Following on the success of the 2020 Finalist Launchpad, our 2021 contest finals were held online. Over the course of this action-packed, 3-day event, five Finalist teams presented their ideas to our judges, and one winner was selected to launch their experiment to space in 2022.

Kickoff: Researchers discussed the latest in space biology. Speakers included:

  • Dr. Christopher E. Carr, astrobiologist and engineer at the Georgia Institute of Technology
  • Dr. Ally Huang, co-developer of BioBits® cell-free protein expression system, which was newly added to the Genes in Space Toolkit
  • Kristoff Misquitta, 2020 Genes in Space winner
