Here are some memories from the International Space Station R&D Conference from July 12th - 14th, 2016.
Five US finalist teams gathered with Genes in Space sponsors, mentors, teachers, judges and family to celebrate space+biology over three days in San Diego, CA.
The celebration started with a VIP luncheon with former astronauts Mark and Scott Kelly at the ISS R&D Conference plenary session on July 12th, followed by a Welcome Reception at the J. Craig Venter Institute in La Jolla.
The finalist teams presented their Genes in Space proposals to a panel of judges on July 13th, and the 2016 Genes in Space US Winner - Julian Rubinfien - was announced by astronaut Josh Cassada on July 14th, 2016.
